About Crawford Designs

A family studio building the software we needed ourselves.

We did not set out to start a company. We set out to fix something that was driving our own quartet up the wall, and it turned out a lot of other groups had the same problem.

Who we are

Crawford Designs started with a problem we had ourselves.

Running a barbershop quartet turns out to involve considerably more than singing. Rehearsal schedules, sheet music, dues, contact lists, gig details, who is available on the third weekend in April — all of it scattered across spreadsheets, group chats and shared drives, with no single place any member could simply go and look.

So Nathan built one. Euphonix got a single site where every member could find everything, and it was built from the outset to be picked up and used without a manual. A quartet is four volunteers with day jobs, not an IT department, and anything that needs training is something nobody will use.

It worked well enough that the chorus he sings with wanted one too. Same problem, larger scale, same answer. At that point it stopped being a favour and started being a product.

Crawford Designs is what happened next, and we are a family business on purpose. Nathan builds, Janey handles marketing, and Lee looks after the finances. That means the person who writes your software is the same person who answers when you email about it. Nothing is handed to a support queue, and nobody has to go and ask the developer what he meant.

The people behind it

Three officers, one family, and first-hand experience of the problem we build for.

Nathan Crawford

Nathan Crawford

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Has spent more than two decades empowering everyday users to confidently navigate complex technology.

Nathan is the principal designer and implementer behind everything Crawford Designs builds — the websites, the software, and the design work.

By day he is a senior analyst at a Fortune 500 technology company, the most recent step in more than twenty years of enterprise technology work. Along the way he has been a project manager running security-operations rollouts, a solutions analyst responsible for testing and releasing software to thousands of users, a corporate trainer who built a company-wide training program from scratch, and a financial analyst supporting a regional controller. He holds a B.S. in Information Technology with a specialization in Information Systems Security.

That history is why this platform looks the way it does. He has spent two decades watching capable people bounce off software that was never designed for them, and has trained enough users to know that anything needing a manual will quietly go unused.

He has sung lead in barbershop choruses since 2007 and holds five international gold medals with the Westminster Chorus and the Masters of Harmony. He has served on the boards of three different chapters in very nearly every role there is — so the jobs this platform is built to make easier are jobs he has personally done.

Janey Crawford

Janey Crawford

Chief Marketing Officer

Has spent more than a decade making sure the people she works with feel heard, understood, and supported.

Janey looks after marketing, social media, and how Crawford Designs talks to the people it works with. She is also the person Nathan brings every idea to first, and the one who tells him honestly whether it holds up, a role that has quietly shaped more of this platform than either of them would claim.

By day she is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has worked with individuals with autism for more than ten years. She is the campus BCBA at a local school, where she manages a team of behavior technicians and works alongside teachers, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists to support students.

That work rests on a discipline this company borrowed wholesale: start with the person in front of you, and change the system to fit them rather than asking them to fit it. She is the one who asks whether a new feature will make sense to a volunteer at nine o’clock on a Tuesday night. The groups we build for are chasing something they love, and making that easier is the part she cares about most.

Janey joined a barbershop chorus accidentally, having been quite certain she was auditioning for an a cappella group, and stayed for the friendships she found there. She met Nathan in that chorus, which makes barbershop a fair part of the reason this company exists at all. She served as the chapter’s secretary, where her note-taking and organization were often praised. She later sang tenor with Euphonix, taking a District Novice Quartet Championship with them. She no longer competes, but continues to serve as the quartet’s PR manager.

Lee Crawford

Lee Crawford

Chief Financial Officer

Has spent more than thirty-five years making sure the numbers are right and the answer comes back quickly.

Lee is Nathan’s father, and the one who looks after the money. Invoicing, the books, and keeping the company current on tax and the wider legal side of running a business, so that the person building your website is not also the person reading up on filing requirements at midnight.

He spent more than thirty-five years in financial analysis and control, most recently as financial controller for a major security company, and brings a long background in asset management with him. He is now retired, which in practice means he has more time for this than the rest of us.

Thirty-five years of controllership is a long apprenticeship in two things: being right, and being right on time. The groups Crawford Designs bills are volunteer-run and counting every dollar, and his standard for that is a simple one. The numbers are accurate, an invoice says what it means, and a question about a charge gets answered quickly rather than eventually.

He does not sing himself. He has spent the years in the audience instead, following his son through the whole of his barbershop journey and turning up at international competitions along the way. It is a more useful vantage point than it sounds. He has been watching what these organizations ask of the people who run them for far longer than this company has existed.

How we work

Four things we hold ourselves to, all of them learned the hard way from the inside.

Built from inside the problem

We sing in these groups and sit on these boards. Every feature exists because a real chorus or quartet actually needed it, not because it rounded out a comparison chart.

Easy enough for volunteers

Your members have day jobs and joined to sing, not to learn software. If something needs a manual before anyone can use it, we treat that as a fault on our side, not theirs.

We are still here after launch

A website is not finished the day it goes live. Real support afterwards is part of what you are paying for, not a separate contract we try to sell you later.

A relationship, not a project

Groups change. Boards turn over, repertoire grows, new ideas arrive. We would rather grow the thing with you over years than hand over a finished site and disappear.

How we got here

  1. May 2026

    Work began on the platform

Built first for one quartet, to put everything that quartet runs on in a single place its members could actually reach.

  2. August 2026

    The first site went live

Euphonix went live on the platform, and has been running on it ever since.

  3. September 2026

    Crawford Designs became an LLC

Formed in Arizona, so that every agreement from here on is with the company rather than with any one of us personally.

What our customers say

We are early, and we would rather show real words from real groups than fill this space with anything else.

We'd love to hear how it's going. If we've built something for you, tell us about it.
